The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix The Excitement of Racing on Yas Island
The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix (Yas Island), one of many Formula 1 racing events, was first introduced in 2007 in accordance with the F1 Festival located in the UAE. The first-ever race occurred in Yas Marina Circuit on November 2009. The Yas Marina Circuit is one of the innovative race circuits on this planet regarding technology and works as a training ground for motor racing in the Middle East. Besides being a venue for motorsport activities, the circuit also offers facilities for group meetings, seminars, marketing events, and other occasions.
2009 Inaugural Race
The Fdration Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) originally announced on June 2008 the tentative Formula One 2009 calendar of events with the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix being the final event for that season. It was initially booked to take place on 15th of November 2009 but was changed to happen 14 days earlier than planned. The inaugural Abu Dhabi Grand Prix race happened on the 1st of November 2009 which is Formula One's 1st day-night race event. Following Abu Dhabi Grand Prix events were likewise held as day-night races. Etihad Airways is the official sponsor of the Grand Prix based on a 3-year contract. Sebastian Vettel (Red Bull Racing) won the 2009 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
Yas Marina Circuit
The Yas Marina Circuit offers a wonderful experience for drivers and visitors alike. Designed with style while increasing function, the circuit provides a facility where races can be conducted on any of its three designs. The full Formula 1 race track is 3.4 miles (5.55 km) long with a total of 21 turns, 12 of which are left turns and 9 are right turns. Running in an anti-clockwise direction, the Formula 1 race track has an estimated lap time of 1 minute and 40 sec. The second and third track designs are shorter with the second one at 1.9 miles (3.15 kilometers) plus the 3rd one at 1.46 miles (2.36 km). The tracks function without interfering with one another making it possible to hold two events all at once in the Yas Marina Circuit.
2010 and 2011 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix
Following the success of the 2009 Grand Prix, the 2010 race happened on November 12-14 at the Yas Marina Circuit. Sebastian Vettel achieved his Second victory on the track and later on secured the title World Champion as well. The 2011 race happened on November 13 with Lewis Hamilton in McLaren-Mercedes winning the third season.
